Customer Care / Repairs and Servicing

As part of our ongoing commitment to offer you premium customer service at Leica UK, our Customer Care technicians at Leica Store Mayfair can assist you with your Leica repair and servicing needs. To receive the best possible service, customer care appointments including sensor cleans can be booked in advance. Bookings are available in our Mayfair store Monday to Friday from 11:30 - 17:30. Book here.

Servicing and repairs

Please fill in the Repair and Service Booking Form here to arrange the servicing or repair of your Leica product. Once you complete the form, including a description of the work required and then click the submit button, you will receive a confirmation email with a unique reference number. Please print and include this email with the Leica product when sending to us. All accessories must be removed (this includes protectors, straps, batteries, lenses, filters, boxes) as these cannot be accepted by our repair team. We do not take responsibility for accessories sent in and we cannot guarantee their return.

Our average local repair time is 2 weeks. The average repair time for products going to Germany is currently 4-5 months and for Portugal is 8 weeks once the quotation has been accepted. 

Repairs in the EU

If your repair needs to be carried out in our European repair centres, we are now required to send a commercial invoice for customs clearance and duties. Due to these added processes the turnaround times for EU repairs have increased by 2-3 weeks.

Sensor Cleans

We offer two complimentary sensor cleans per calendar year for your Leica system camera with interchangeable lenses (this includes the M, S, SL and CL Systems.) We are proud to offer you a priority same-day service; strictly when booked in advance.

A sensor clean is necessary on a regular basis as dust build-up is inevitable.

Leica offers two free sensor cleans per calendar year for cameras under warranty, after which we provide a paid-for service.  Customers need to book an appointment in advance by phone or through our website to guarantee a quick turnaround. Requests for an urgent sensor clean can be made, subject to availability.

Customers can either bring their camera to Leica Store London Mayfair or send it via post or courier.

Cleaning procedure

We offer a professional sensor-cleaning service, providing the safest and most effective way to remove dust from the camera sensor and restore clarity to your images. 

Our sensor cleaning process: 

• Initial test images to establish level and location of dust.
• Cleaning of the area around the sensor.
• Clean the sensor.
• Clean the body cap or rear element area of any attached lens.
• Final test images to ensure cleaning has been successful.

FAQ

How often should you have your sensor cleaned?

It depends on the frequency of use and working environment that your camera is exposed to. We recommend you check your sensor by taking a picture of a clear background or blue sky on f/16 – f/22. We then suggest you check the image on a computer. It is advisable to check your sensor before any important job, event, or holiday to make sure you have clean images.

Warranty

We cannot offer a warranty on our sensor cleaning service; sensor dust is inevitable and can occur at any time even if not changing lenses. 
Please ensure that you are satisfied with our service when collecting the camera, our team will show you a test image shot on the camera demonstrating the cleaned sensor. 

We clean M, SL, Q, D-lux, V-lux, and C-Lux sensors.

Sensor cleaning prices:

M and SL Cameras: £90 inc. VAT
Q: £200 inc. VAT (dismantling of camera required, same day service is not possible)
Compact Cameras: £100 inc. VAT (dismantling of camera required, same day service is not possible)
S Medium Format: £120 inc. VAT

Please note: We are unable to offer a same-day sensor clean service or repairs on cameras brought in without advance bookings. However, you will be able to leave your items with us and we will do our best to have your camera ready as soon as possible.
