Introduced in 1932, the Leica II was the first-ever Leica camera with a built-in coupled rangefinder. Initially only available in the black/nickel colour combination it remained in production for more than 16 years.
The II, although less sophisticated than the III, is more reliable and less likely to fail due to lack of use. Even when stored for many years the Leica II is often ready to use straight away.
This particular one is an early example produced in the first year and comes with the 5cm f3.5 Elmar lens in nickel finish.
Both body and lens were manufactured for export and engraved "Germany" on the hot shoe and the front of the lens mount ring. The glass is clean for its age and the camera is in full working order.
This is not only an interesting camera for a collector but also a very useable one.
